Rays defeat Dodgers 3-1
Luke Maile had an RBI double in a three-run fourth inning to help Tampa Bay wrap up a nine-game West Coast road swing by snapping a four-game skid. The Rays were swept in a three-game series at Chavez Ravine in 2013, the only other time they've visited the Dodgers' hallowed home turf.
Moore (7-7) struck out five and allowed an unearned run. Alex Colome pitched a perfect ninth for his 22nd save in 23 chances. Brandon McCarthy (2-1) lasted just four innings for the Dodgers in his first loss since Sept. 23, 2014.

Dodgers hold off Rays 3-2
Norris pitched shutout ball into the seventh inning, and the Dodgers held off the Tampa Bay Rays for a 3-2 win on Tuesday night.
"I've had some down years in my career, but this is what it is all about, winning baseball games and being in a pennant race," Norris said.
Norris (6-9) allowed two hits and walked two in 6 1/3 innings in his longest outing since he was acquired in a June 30 trade with Atlanta. Yasmani Grandal homered against Chris Archer in the seventh as Los Angeles (57-44) won for the fourth time in five games to remain 2 1/2 back of NL West-leading San Francisco.
"I knew it was gone," Grandal said. "When you hit a ball on the sweet spot and the guy is throwing 96 or 97 miles per hour you pretty much know the ball is gone."
Tampa Bay scored two runs in the eighth, but the rally fizzled from there. Kenley Jansen worked the ninth for his 30th save in 35 chances.
Archer (5-14), a potential trade target for contenders ahead of Monday's non-waiver deadline, struck out eight while pitching seven solid innings. He was charged with three runs, one earned, and four hits.
"It was a good outing but we lost," Archer said. "It's hard for me to look at personal performances when you lose. I could have done better."
Tampa Bay manager Kevin Cash said it was Archer's best start of the season.
"He attacked the strike zone and threw 71 percent strikes," he said. "He's definitely not a 5-14 pitcher. We made mistakes and they took advantage of it."
Los Angeles used two errors to grab a 2-0 lead in the third.
Joc Pederson reached with one out when first baseman Steve Pearce dropped second baseman's Logan Forsythe's throw. Pederson advanced on Norris' sacrifice and went to third when Chase Utley reached on Archer's high throw to first.
Corey Seager and Justin Turner then hit consecutive RBI singles. Seager extended his hitting streak to nine games.
"Earlier in the year we weren't winning games like this," Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said. "For us as a team to win that one-run game is obviously a huge lift."
Brad Miller hit an RBI double and Logan Forsythe scored on a wild pitch to trim Los Angeles' lead to 3-2 in the eighth. Luis Avilan got Kevin Kiermaier to pop up with the tying run on third to end the rally.
Los Angeles left fielder Howie Kendrick went 0 for 3, stopping his 16-game hitting streak. The Rays dropped to 5-16 in July.

Molino sparks 2nd-half rally, Orlando City ties Crew 2-2
Orlando City (4-5-11) pulled within one when Kaka's corner resulted in a loose ball scramble in front of the goal that Molino finally punched it in. Five minutes later, Molino's wide cross found Larin for a header from the top of the 6-yard box.
Tony Tchani opened the scoring in the 20th minute, finishing a give-and-go with Justin Meram for Columbus (3-7-10). Ola Kamara converted the penalty kick in the sixth minute of first-half stoppage time to send the Crew into the break with a 2-0 lead.
Kamara and Larin each reached their 10th goal of the season, tied for third-best in MLS.
Stanton homers to help Fernandez and Marlins defeat Mets, 7-2
MIAMI (AP) – Giancarlo Stanton homered and had his first four-hit game since 2012, driving in three runs to give Jose Fernandez all the support he needed, and the Miami Marlins beat the New York Mets 7-2 on Saturday night.
Miami rocked Jacob deGrom (6-5), who allowed 10 hits and five runs, both season highs, and lasted just 3 2/3 innings in his shortest outing since August.
Fernandez (12-4) gave up two runs in seven innings to match his career high for victories, achieved in his 2013 rookie season. He also had two hits, hiking his average to .265, and drove in the first run.
Fernandez improved to 26-1 with a 1.47 ERA in 37 starts at Marlins Park.
Home Run Derby winner Stanton put Miami ahead to stay in the third inning when he hit a majestic two-run homer off the left-field scoreboard above the 401-foot sign. He added an RBI single in the fourth, and singled in the first and sixth, hiking his average to .241 after a prolonged slump.
DeGrom was coming off the first complete game of his career, a one-hit shutout in his last start, but his anticipated pitcher's duel with Fernandez failed to materialize. The Mets right-hander allowed at least two baserunners in every inning he worked, and his ERA rose to 2.73.
DeGrom's best moment came at the plate, where he doubled to lead off the third, his first extra-base hit since July 2015. He scored on a single by Yoenis Cespedes, and James Loney's sacrifice fly gave the Mets a 2-1 lead.
But that was all they managed against Fernandez. He hit 99 mph in the first inning, and his final pitch was a 98-mph fastball to Cespedes for strike three.
Christian Yelich led off the Miami third with a single, and Stanton dented the scoreboard with a homer that landed between the words BALLS and STRIKES. Stanton has six homers in 10 games against the Mets this year, including three this month off deGrom.
Yelich had three of the Marlins' 16 hits, and Martin Prado drove in two runs.
SUZUKI UPDATE
Miami's Ichiro Suzuki grounded out as a pinch hitter to end the eighth and remained four hits shy of 3,000.
TRAINER'S ROOM
Mets: 1B Lucas Duda (back) visited the team, took swings for the first time since his injury and said he hopes to be ready for a rehab assignment in a couple of weeks. "I feel good. I'm progressing on the right track," said Duda, who hasn't faced pitching yet.
REHAB
Marlins: 2B Dee Gordon went 2 for 13 in his first four games with Triple-A New Orleans as he prepares to return next week from an 80-game suspension for a positive drug test. Marlins manager Don Mattingly said reports regarding Gordon's progress have been encouraging. "He's swinging the bat good and looks good for a guy who hasn't played in a while," Mattingly said.
UP NEXT
LHP Steven Matz (7-6, 3.56) is scheduled to start Sunday for the Mets in the rubber game of the series against RHP Jose Urena (1-1, 6.23). Matz is 0-2 with a 7.07 ERA in three career starts against Miami.
Rays fall to A's 1-0
Ryon Healy doubled to start the rally against Dylan Floro (0-1), and both Healy and Crisp tossed their batting helmets in the air after the win that took 3 hours, 31 minutes.
John Axford (4-3) pitched the 12th and 13th innings for the win.
A's rookie Sean Manaea struck out seven and didn't give up a walk in eight innings.
Rays starter Jake Odorizzi, who snapped a six-start winless streak last Sunday against Baltimore for his first win since June 8, matched his career high with eight innings. He allowed five hits in eight innings and didn't walk a batter for the third time this year.
Marlins fall to Mets 5-3
Reyes drove in a run, stole a base and scored on two sacrifice flies by Yoenis Cespedes. The game was Reyes' first at Marlins Park since he played for Miami in 2012. Reyes signed with the Mets after being released by Colorado following a domestic violence suspension.
The Mets' James Loney entered the game as a defensive replacement and hit a two-run homer into the upper deck in the ninth inning.
Logan Verrett and three relievers combined on a seven-hitter for the Mets. They closed within a half-game of second-place Miami in the NL East. Verrett took a shutout into the sixth for New York but departed after giving up a two-run homer to Christian Yelich, his 10th.
Hansel Robles (5-3) pitched 1 2/3 scoreless innings. Jeurys Familia gave up an RBI single by pinch-hitter Martin Prado in the ninth before retiring Adeiny Hechavarria with two on for his 50th consecutive save, including 34 this season to lead the majors. David Phelps (4-5) took the loss.

Adam Conley is making his 20th start of the season for the Marlins on Friday night, his ninth at Marlins Park. He is 3-3, 3.28 (46.2/17) in eight starts in South Florida, and 3-2, 3.88 (58.0 ip/25 er) in 11 starts on the road.. He is making his second start of the year against the Mets, the fourth outing of his career. He set a career high with nine strikeouts through 6.0 scoreless innings on April 13, allowing one walk.

He holds the lowest career ERA vs. the NL East by any Marlins left-handed starter (min. 10 starts). In his last four home starts, he is 2-0 with a 1.07 ERA (25.1/3); has earned in a win in his last two starts here.
The Mets will start RHP Logan Verrett, who is 3-6, 4.21 this season.
FISH BITES
The Marlins are opening a 10-game homestand with the first of three games against the New York Mets, who are only 1.5 games behind the Fish for second in the NL East, tonight at 7:10 p.m. Miami is starting LHP Adam Conley, who in three previous appearances (two starts) against the Metropolitans, has gone 1-0 with a 0.59 ERA. New York is countering with RHP Logan Verrett, who in three previous appearances (two starts) against the Marlins, has no record and a 0.69 ERA. The Marlins have gone 8-2 over their last 10 games and are looking to get to a season-best 10-games over .500. The last time the Fish were 10-games over .500 was on May 28, 2011 (30-20). Tonight is Puerto Rican Heritage Night at Marlins Park. Fans who purchased a special event ticket package will receive a commemorative Puerto Rican Heritage Night hat, and a portion of the proceeds will benefit the Dorothy Quintana Senior Arts Program in Wynwood. Tonight's na- tional anthem will be performed by Los 5, and ceremonial first pitches will be thrown by John Brunetti Sr. and Dr. Michael Baraga. Tonight’s game is the fifth contest of 10 straight against NL East opponents, with the homestand continuing against the Phillies (July 25-27), before playing four against the Cardinals (July 28-31). Miami is 5-2 thus far on a 20-game stretch without an off-day to begin the second half.
LAST NIGHT AT PHILADELPHIA
The Marlins capped a 5-2 road trip to open the second half with a 9-3 win over the Phillies. Tom Koehler tied a career high by tossing 8.0 innings, allowing two hits and one earned run (three total). Six Marlins recorded multi-hit efforts in the 16-hit attack, led by Derek Dietrich's 3x4 performance. Christian Yelich was 2x5 with his career-high tying ninth home run of the season, while Marcell Ozuna was 2x5 with a team-high two RBI. Ichiro Suzuki continued his chase to 3,000 with two hits, putting him four away from the historic mark.
ELIAS SAYS...
Christian Yelich had two hits, including a solo homer, as the Marlins closed out their road trip with a 9-3 win at Phila- delphia last night. Yelich has reached base safely (via hit, walk or hit by pitch) in 46 of the 47 road games he's started for Miami this season, and in each of his last 29 road starts. That's the longest such streak by a Marlins player within one season since Hanley Ramirez reached safely in 29 consecutive road starts in 2009.
ZEROING IN
Adam Conley comes into tonight's start tied with Tanner Roark, Drew Pomeranz and Jake Arrieta for the most scoreless 5.0+ inning starts this season with six. The lefty has tossed 13.0 consecutive scoreless frames against the Mets, going 7.0 innings on September 16, 2015 at Citi Field, and 6.0 on April 13, 2016 at Citi Field.
HOT TIMES AT MARLINS PARK
Since starting the season 1-7 at home, the Fish have gone 23-12 (.657) over their last 35 at Marlins Park. Miami's home winning percentage since April 21 ranks second among National League clubs, behind only San Francisco's .667 (26- 13). On the season, Miami has played the fewest home games in the NL (43), yet are tied with the Mets and Pirates for the league lead with 17 saves. The Marlins .236 average against ranks fourth behind Chicago (.205), Los Angeles (.220) and Washington (.222).
SWEET SWINGIN' LEFTY
Christian Yelich has been putting together his finest season since coming to the Majors, batting .318 with nine home runs, 52 RBI, a .395 on-base percentage and .486 slugging percentage. His average, OBP and SLG are all career-bests, while his RBI total is two off a career best done in 2014. He needs five doubles to have 30 in each of the last three seasons and become the sixth Marlins player in Franchise history to have three-or-more consecutive seasons of 30+ doubles. Dating back to June 27, 2015, Yelich owns the second-highest average among all Major League hitters at .336, behind only Jose Altuve (.344).
TAKING ONE FOR THE TEAM (RECORD)
Last night, Derek Dietrich was hit by a pitch for the first time since July 2 at Atlanta, a span of 11 games without being plunked. It was the longest stretch by games he had gone without a hit-by-pitch this season. Last night's beaning was his 18th this season, marking the second-most in the Majors (Brandon Guyer-22), and the most in a single season in Mar- lins history. He has now been hit 48 times in his career, the second-most in Franchise history, behind Alex Gonzalez (51).
CATCH HIM IF YOU CAN
J.T. Realmuto recorded his 10th stolen base of the season Tuesday night. He currently leads the Marlins in that category and would be the first catcher to do so in a single season in Club history. The last catcher to lead his team in stolen bases in a season was Jason Kendall, who led Oakland with 11 steals in 2006. - STATS LLC
30-30 CLUB
A.J. Ramos, who picked up his 31st save Tuesday night, recorded his 30th save of the season on Monday to become just the fourth Marlins pitcher to have two 30-plus save seasons. Ramos set his career high with 32 saves last season. Steve Cishek (2013, 2014), Juan Carlos Oviedo (pitching as Leo Nuñez in 2010, 2011) and Robb Nen (1996, 1997) are the only other Marlins to have multiple seasons of 30+ saves. Additionally, Ramos earned a save in seven of 10 team games from July 5-19, marking the second time he accomplished the feat this season (also, April 24-May 5). Prior to this year, it had only happened twice in team history, done by Steve Cishek (July 20-29, 2014) and Antonio Alfonseca (June 30-July 13, 2000).
CLIMBING THE LADDER
Ichiro Suzuki now has a total of 2,996 hits over his MLB career. On June 15 at San Diego, Ichiro unofficially passed Pete Rose's Major League hit record of 4,256 when combining Ichiro’s 1,278 hits with the Orix Blue Wave of Nippon Professional Baseball in Japan. Suzuki is batting .343 (61x178) this season and is four hits away from becoming the 30th player in Major League history to record 3,000 hits and tying Roberto Clemente for 29th on MLB's all-time hit list (Elias). In research provided by Stats LLC, Ichiro Suzuki will become just the second player ever to reach 3,000 hits through his first 16 Major League seasons, following Pete Rose, who recorded 3,164.
BROADCAST NOTES
FOX Sports Florida has added next Wednesday's game, July 27, vs. the Philadelphia Phillies to the broadcast schedule. In addition, TBS has added the July 31 game vs. the St. Louis Cardinals to its broadcast schedule.
Tim Beckham leads Rays to 7-3 victory over Athletics
Beckham made the most of his emergency position switch by hitting a homer and sparking a four-run inning with his eighth straight hit over three games to lead the Tampa Bay Rays to a 7-3 svictory over the Oakland Athletics on Thursday night.
"That's not an easy thing," manager Kevin Cash said. "That's uncomfortable to go play somewhere in a big league ballgame. You can imagine there's probably some nerves and anxiety."
With Logan Morrison sidelined by an injured right forearm and Steve Pearce needing a day off, Beckham was Tampa Bay's best option to play first despite never having played the position.
He took infield before the game and got some quick lessons from bench coach Tom Foley before taking the field with one of Pearce's gloves.
"I just told myself I trust in my ability," Beckham said. "Just trust in my ability and be comfortable over there. It helped out."
While he played error-free defense and made a nice play on a forceout in the ninth, it was his bat that did the biggest damage.
He followed up a five-hit game in Colorado on Wednesday by hitting a solo homer in the second against Sonny Gray (4-9) and then adding a leadoff single in the big fifth inning that gave Tampa Bay the lead for good.
Beckham, who started the streak with a single in his final at-bat Monday, was finally retired when he popped out to end the sixth but by then he had done his damage. His eight hits in eight at-bats — he walked in his other plate appearance — were one more hit than he had in 41 at-bats in all of June.
Corey Dickerson homered and drove in three runs, and Logan Forsythe, Brad Miller and Evan Longoria added RBI hits in the fifth inning to back a solid start by Matt Moore (6-7).
Moore allowed a three-run homer to Jake Smolinski in the second but nothing else in seven innings to earn his first win in eight road starts this season.
"I think that kind of woke me up," Moore said of the homer. "It was early in the game. We were just trying to set the tone by throwing strikes, pounding the zone early."
Alex Colome got three outs for his 21st save in as many chances to give the Rays their first three game winning streak since June 12-15. Tampa Bay has won four of five following a 3-24 stretch that was the worst in franchise history.
Gray, who snapped a seven-game losing streak last Saturday against Toronto, was unable to build on that success. He allowed seven runs and nine hits in five innings.
"That game kind of went how my year's been, giving up the home run then having the big inning," Gray said. "I thought at the start of the fifth inning I made some pretty good pitches, and suddenly it's first and second with nobody out and then it didn't go well from there."
TRAINER'S ROOM
Rays: Morrison got an injection in his injured forearm and is expected to be fine in a day or two.
Athletics: LHP Rich Hill (blister) played catch before the game with protection on his middle finger. He is still not ready to throw curveballs or pitch off the mound. ... RHP Zach Neal was recalled from Triple-A Nashville and LHP Patrick Schuster was optioned to Nashville.
TRADE TALK
A's RF Josh Reddick said he's tuning out any talk about a possible trade before the Aug. 1 deadline, saying the game is hard enough without worrying about things out of his control. But Reddick did say he is upset there hasn't been more progress on a long-term deal to keep him in Oakland past this season.
"It's kind of disheartening to know something hasn't been worked out so far, and we've been four months into it," he said.
UP NEXT
Rays: Jake Odorizzi (4-5) snapped a six-start winless streak last Sunday against Baltimore when he allowed two runs in six innings for his first win since June 8.
Athletics: Sean Manaea (3-5) faces the Rays for the first time in his career in the second game of the series.

Christian Yelich homered for the Marlins, who won three of four over the Phillies to cap a seven-game road trip 5-2. Miami moved 1½ games ahead of the idle Mets for the second wild-card spot in the National League. The Marlins return home for an important 10-game series that begins on Friday night against the Mets.
Ryan Howard and Freddy Galvis homered for Philadelphia, which has dropped four of five.
Suzuki hit an infield single in the third and a solid single to right-center in the eighth to bring his major-league total to 2,996. He is vying to become the 30th player all-time to reach 3,000 hits.
Koehler (7-8) rebounded from a month-long slump with arguably his best outing of the season. He gave up two hits and only one of his three runs allowed was earned while striking out five and walking one. The right-hander had been 0-2 with a 7.36 ERA in his last five outings and hadn't gone more than five innings in any of his previous four starts.
The Marlins gave Koehler a big lead in the fourth.
Miami battered Jerad Eickhoff (6-11) for four runs on four hits — all extra-base — to take a 4-0 lead.
Yelich led off with an opposite-field shot, tying his career-high with his ninth homer of the season. RBI doubles by Chris Johnson and Adeiny Hechavarria and Jeff Mathis' groundout also plated runs in the frame.
The Phillies got a pair of runs back in the bottom of the frame on Howard's two-out homer that broke up Koehler's no-hit bid. The opposite-field shot gave Howard 14 for the season and 371 for his career, moving him out of a tie with Gil Hodges for 77th all-time.
The Marlins got those runs back in the top of the fifth. Singles by Martin Prado and Yelich to start the frame put runners on first and third. Prado scored on Eickhoff's wild pitch and Yelich reached when shortstop Freddy Galvis threw the ball away trying to get Yelich out at third on Derek Dietrich's infield single.
Eickhoff had one of his worst outings of the season, matching season-worsts for innings pitch and hits allowed. He gave up six runs - five earned - on nine hits in five innings with six strikeouts and no walks.
Miami added three runs on five hits in the eighth off Daniel Stumpf. Marcell Ozuna had a two-run single and Koehler recorded his second RBI of the season with a single. Koehler is batting .097 with three hits in 31 at-bats.

PHILADELPHIA -- The Miami Marlins (51-43) will face the Phialdelphia Phillies (44-52) in Philadelphia on Thursday night.
Marlins RHP Tom Koehler is making his 20th start of the season, his 12th on the road. Miami is 5-5 over his last 10 starts, during which he is 4-3 with a 4.58 ERA (53.0 ip/27 er). Koehler has 32 career wins, one shy of tying Kevin Brown, Carl Pavano and José Fernández for 10th place on the Club’s all-time list.
The Phillies will start RHP Jerad Eickhoff (6-10, 3.76) on the mound.
FISH BITES
The Marlins, looking to win their third straight series, conclude a four-game set against the Phillies and a seven-game
road trip, tonight in Philadelphia (7:05 p.m.). RHP Tom Koehler (6-8, 4.68) toes the rubber for Miami; he is 2-4 with a 3.99 ERA in 13 career games, 11 starts, against Philadelphia, 2-4, 3.74 as a starter. The Phillies send righty Jerad Eickhoff (6-10,
3.76), an Evansville, Ind. native like Marlins manager Don Mattingly, to the hill; he is 1-1 with a 2.25 ERA in two career starts against Miami. Tonight’s game is the fourth contest of 10 straight against NL East opponents, as the Fish will return home following this series for a 10-game homestand against the Mets (July 22-24) and Phillies (July 25-27), before facing the Cardinals (July 28-31). Miami is 4-2 thus far on a 20-game stretch without an off-day to begin the second half.
LAST NIGHT AT PHILADELPHIA
The Marlins fell to the Phillies, 4-1, at Citizens Bank Park, as the Phils took a 2-0 lead in the first and never relinquished it.
Wei-Yin Chen (5-4) started and took the loss, allowing four runs in 5.1 innings. Miami’s lone run came on a Chris Johnsonhome run in the fifth inning, as the Fish had just five hits, four of which were singles, and no walks. Neither pitching staff issued a walk in the game, the Marlins' second such game this season.
UP NEXT
The Marlins return home after tonight’s contest and open a 10-game homestand tomorrow with the first of three against the Mets. This season, Miami has gone 4-5 against the Mets, 1-2 at home. The Fish are 21-20 all-time at Marlins Park against the Metropolitans, but are 184-201 overall all-time against them.
SERIES-LY SPEAKING
A win tonight would give the Marlins their third straight series win and second straight on the road. The team hasn’t won three straight series since April 25-May 5, taking four of four in LA (April 25-28), two of three in Milwaukee (April 29-May
1) and all three over the Diamondbacks in Miami (May 3-5). Additionally, the Marlins are looking for their first series win
vs. the Phillies this season. Last year, the Marlins won two of their three series here in Philly, but were 4-5 overall in their
nine games here.
KEEP IT SHORT
Since losing three straight, to close out the month of June, the Marlins have not dropped consecutive games in July.
The team is 10-5 in July and has managed to win the game following their four previous losses this month.
RECORD HIGHS
The Marlins loss last night dropped their record to 51-43. At 51-42 the team was a season-high nine games over .500. It
was their highest mark since standing at 31-22 through May 31, 2011. The last time the team was 10-over was at 30-20
through May 28, 2011. The last time the Marlins were eight-or-more over in the second half of the season was when
they finished the 2009 season 87-75.
- STATS LLC
CATCH THIS
J.T. Realmuto is having an impressive season when stacked up against other MLB catchers. He is second behind Wil-
son Ramos (93) for the most hits as a catcher (92), and is third in average (.311), behind Ramos (.332) and Jonathan
Lucroy (.325). Realmuto also leads MLB catchers in stolen bases, with nine (10 overall). He already holds the career
Club record for a backstop (18), ahead of Benito Santiago (11). His eight career triples are tied with Santiago for the
most by a catcher in Club history, and his batting average would set a new Club record, surpassing Ivan Rodriguez,
who hit .300 in 2003.
GETTING STRONGER
On the season, Miami's relievers have combined to go 20-16 with 37 saves and a 3.56 ERA, ranking first in MLB in saves,
third (first in NL) in wins, and fourth in the NL in ERA. The 'pen has been led by A.J. Ramos, who owns a 2.03 ERA (40.0
ip/9 er), seventh among NL relievers, and 31 saves (32 SVO), second in MLB. The newest member of the Marlins 'pen,
Fernando Rodney, ranks second among NL relievers in ERA (0.96) and ranks first in MLB in opponents’ batting average
(.136) this season. Rodney is 17-for-17 in save chances, 10th-most in the NL.
30-30 CLUB
A.J. Ramos, who picked up his 31st save Tuesday night, recorded his 30th save of the season on Monday to become just the fourth Marlins pitcher to have two 30-plus save seasons. Ramos set his career high with 32 saves last season. Steve Cishek (2013, 2014), Juan Carlos Oviedo (pitching as Leo Nunez in 2010, 2011) and Robb Nen (1996, 1997) are the only other Marlins to have multiple seasons of 30+ saves. Additionally, Ramos earned a save in seven of 10 team games from July 5-19, marking the second time he has accomplished the feat this season (also, April 24-May 5). Prior to this year, it had only happened twice in team history, done by Steve Cishek (July 20-29, 2014) and Antonio Alfonseca (June 30-July 13, 2000).
CLIMBING THE LADDER
Ichiro Suzuki now has a total of 2,994 hits over his MLB career. On June 15 at San Diego, Ichiro unofficially passed Pete Rose's Major League hit record of 4,256 when combining Ichiro’s 1,278 hits with the Orix Blue Wave of Nippon Professional Baseball in Japan. Suzuki is batting .341 (59x173) this season and is six hits away from
becoming the 30th player in Major League history to record 3,000 hits and tying Roberto Clemente for 29th on MLB's all-time hit list - Elias
