Nicolino gets nod as Marlins face Dodgers

Justin Nicolino gets the start on the mound for the visiting Marlins against the Dodgers' Alex Wood in the second game of a four-game series Friday night at Dodger Stadium.

Wood has won his last three starts. The Dodgers' lefty is the reigning National League Player of the Week after collecting 21 strikeouts in 11 scoreless innings over two outings.

Nicolino will be looking to end his 12-game losing streak, and continue his success at Dodger Stadium.

"It's hard to forget those outings," Nicolino said. "Pitching in Dodger Stadium, it's always a lot of fun. For me, that's a game you always keep in the back of the memory box, and build off of and learn from."

Miami slugger Giancarlo Stanton is one of four players to hit a home run out of Dodger Stadium, having done so on May 12, 2015. Stanton joined Mark McGwire (May 22, 1999), Mike Piazza (Sept. 21,1997), and Willie Stargell (May 8, 1973 and Aug. 5, 1969) in the exclusive group. Stanton is 3-for-20 (.150) in his career against Wood, with two homers.
