LAKELAND, Fla. - Florida Highway Patrol is in Polk County investigating a school bus accident with injuries that happened just before 6:30 a.m. on Tuesday morning.
The accident happened on Swindell Road at Galloway Road in Lakeland. There is a roadblock in the northbound lanes.
Officials say a 1994 Chevy pickup was traveling southbound on Galloway Road at 6:25 a.m. on Monday. A Polk County school bus was stopped in the eastbound lane of Swindell Road at the stop sign of the intersection. The bus driver drove through the intersection at the same time the Chevy pickup was passing through. The front of the pickup truck collided with the left side of the bus which was transporting 20 students to Kathleen High School. The driver, along with 3 students were transported to local hospitals with minor injuries.
